Spring Break for Kiddos - Mama Takes Several Field Trips.

Day One of the break - we went to Cactoctin Zoo in Thurmond MD. It was a bit disappointing this time. One, apparently not all exhibits are ready yet since they just reopened for the year and two, not all exhibits are ready yet since they just reopened for the year. It would be nice if their website would have reflected that. They also had no food or water on hand - luckily I was organized enough and we were all set but there were A LOT of families there and they were all complaining, starving and kids were screaming. You'd think they'd be organized. Also, we got there at 10:30 - their safari ride didn't run till 2 (again, would be nice if the website reflected that and hell no I was not waiting till 2) AND no camel rides yet. Very disappointing run to Thurmond.

Papa Took Trevor Rainbow Trout Fishing

They went to Lake Fairfax to watch the county restock the lake - a dump truck (or something to that effect....I wasn't there) pulls up and the fish get pumped into the lake. Trevor was very excited. Some of the fish were in shock so Papa helped Trevor get a trout - the trout slapped Trevor in the face and now he is no longer a fan of rainbow trout. There are two things I find funny about these pics....one, there are no photos of Trevor fishing. Two, in the last photo he is covered in mud, snot and cheetos dust! :)

Spring has Sprung! Mama's first outing with kiddos.

The petting zoo has reopened and the kiddos went twice this weekend between swim classes (Heather swam a whole lap back and forth on her own!). The zoo now has a budgie (birds) house and Heather decided it was her mission in life to train the budgies on how to eat off a stick - the exhibit is brand new so the zoo isn't charging yet for the food sticks as the birds realize that the humans are holding sticks. Heather would sit in there for hours attempting to get budgies on her stick - she named every one that cooperated. The zoo now has Snowy, Greenbean and Bluebell in their exhibit although they don't know about it. ;) Trevor was game as well and enjoyed the birds which I thought was a big deal because he's usually pretty skittish. Season passes also now give you 10% discount in the gift shop so Trevor feels that means he gets a gift every time.

Heather Turned 9 and to Celebrate We Had a Small Celebration at Chuck E Cheese

Trevor is still the master of tickets - he won approximately 789 during this trip.

The pinate had tokens and tickets in it. Trevor wanted to know where the candy was.

Our birthday girl.

The princess asked for an ice cream cake this year - didn't want Mom to make her one.

Both Kiddos Passed PeeWee Swim Level 2

They are swim for small bursts by themselves! PeeWee Swim Level 3 starts next weekend. Both love to be under water and diving. Trevor's favorite is jumping into the pool and screetching cannonball! He also loves to search for dive rings. Heather loves to be under the water. When she swims backwards she flicks her wrists out and then sinks like a stone.

Still Recovering from Surgery

I'm still down for the count so haven't been out with the kiddos - the trampoline has continued to be a lifesaver for Mommy! As soon as I can take them out we'll post more photos again.

Christmas Time at Chaos Was a Busy One!

We spent Christmas morning opening presents - video enclosed below. Heather's expression when she finds out Santa didn't leave any presents and the ensuing panic was priceless. He left them a trampoline - too big to fit under the tree! They ran all over the house on a scavenger hunt. After that, we went over to Grandpa and Grandma's for a lovely dinner and they got an air hockey table. The trampoline has been getting a lot of practice - several neighbors have been over to give it a go as well in the mild December weather we've been having. Trevor is now catching up on some zzzs in the playroom from a long week of fun!
