Yet Another Day of Fun With My Daughter.

Heather comes out dramatically - Mom my head hurts.  I need medicine.  And a washcloth.  And I need to lay down.  And I need quiet.
OK.....
shortly after all the free health care.  Heather can you brush your hair please?
She starts brushing to dramatically announce she has an arm cramp and proceeds to hold her arm and not move it.
I officially gave her my award and presented it to her that my grandpa made me when I was little.  I think its dated 1976......it says Number One Actress.
Here you go Heather, you are officially Number One.
Heather just glares at me.
Trevor then says can I have it?
Sorry son, I don't have one for Number One Trouble.
Heather thought this was very funny......

She's a Teenager Already.....

I was getting ready to go out and paused to speak to our daughter....
Me: Heather I expect you to be dressed when I return, OK?!
Dead silence.
Me: Heather did you hear me?
Heather: YES and I said yes.
Me: Actually you did not.  Yes what?
Heather: YES YES
Me: Let's try that again.  Yes what?
Heather: Yes......Kristen.
Me: Excuse me? Do you want to play who is the dominant female in this house because I can assure you that you will lose every single time.
Heather: full on eye roll: YES MOM.

I turn around the corner to find Eric with a towel stuffed in his face because he's laughing so hard.  OK - its official.  She is definitely my daughter.

Heather Was Jealous so off to the Zoo We Went the Next Day!

It was just as cold if not colder - who knew in May that I'd have to get their winter hats out?!  Heather and Trevor had so much fun and it was nice that it wasn't crowded due to weather.  Trevor asked to go in the swan boats and I told him he was crazy and ABSOLUTELY not.  He was quite perplexed as to why the answer was no.  There were tons of baby geese, ducks, a baby cow and the budgies were ravenous.  That was their favorite part - they simply got swarmed by the budgies!

Trevor's Class Went to the Reston Zoo and I Got to Come Along.

Unfortunately the day was FREEZING.  The poor kids lips were turning blue but they did see quite a bit.  It surprised me with the number of kids who were not adequately prepared for an outdoor field trip.  Luckily I brought extra jackets and a big picnic blanket which we used to cover some of the kids in shorts whose legs were freezing.  Trevor had a great time.  I took a few pictures of the kids in the birdhouse.  I was assigned Trevor, Anthony (one of his besties), Sayan (the kid who scratched his eye and one of his besties) and Nolan invited himself with our group so I finally just said to the teachers I have Nolan!  The kids didn't understand that they had to stay with their chaperones at all times.

Went Geocaching at Lake Accotink.

What a way to break up a day!  We searched throughout Lake Accotink and found 4 of the 5 caches we were attempting to find.  It was pretty cool.  The kids took turns holding the phone and figuring out the clues and coordinates.  Once you found one you opened it, took a treasure, added a treasure of your own and signed your name in a book.  They walked the entire lake which was 5.5 miles without a single complaint!  The weather was cool and wonderful for May!

Trevor's First School Performance!

The theme was "Barnyard Moosical".  Trevor was "pig number three" with several others in his group.
Their line was:

So please before you call us names, we hope you stop and think.  Because we are a bunch of neatnik pigs who never make a stink.

Trevor gave it his all - I asked him to speak clearly and make eye contact and remember his line.  His response?  What am I getting if I do a good job?!  Smart kid - he remembers Daimlers never work for free. So he got a videogame and was quite proud of himself.  Listening to his little Trevor voice was so cute as he recited his lines diligently.  Then they sung a song.  Heather's teacher let her skip out so she could watch to.  He was SO excited when he saw his sister was watching.

We Visited Luray Caverns with Friends for a Quick Day Trip.

I decided the kids needed to see real caverns as they still talk about the Natural Bridge Caverns and how terrible they are....so off to Luray we went!  Eric joined us as well as our friends and their children.  It was a lovely hour and a half trip full of cows, horses, goats.  The kids enjoyed the hills and country music was sung loudly in the back.  We arrived with perfect timing, got our tour tickets and hit the caverns.  Afterwards I bought tickets for the adventure rope course (which was a pleasant surprise) for Heather and Trevor.  Trevor backed out so I reluctantly headed to the top with Heather - I am petrified of high places.  I powered through trying to show my kiddos that there was nothing to be afraid of.  After that we hit the garden maze.  They had a great time running through the hedges and getting their cards stamped.  We made it home by 3:30 p.m. - not a bad day!

The girls before the climb to the top.

Which way do we go now?

This is wonder lake - the reflection was so cool to see!  Trevor kept asking if there were fish in the lake.  The guide assured him there was not.  He insisted there were at least crayfish.

Trevor picked a archaeological kit out of the gift shop and searched for "diamonds and gold".  He took a good hour to work his way through the rock - THE MESSIEST TOY EVER.  Our deck is still covered in debris.  He did look pretty cute though with his goggles and hammer.

Sunday We Went to the Petting Zoo with Cousin Madeline and Cousin Maryann.

There were baby geese, baby pigs, baby sheep.  The weather was nice and the kids had a great time.

Trevor's "Papa-stache"

Trevor came up to me with this and asked me to send this to Papa right away on my phone.  He cut it out himself from a Pringles can and taped it all himself.  Not sure where he got the idea from but the photo is pretty priceless.
