Heather's a Third Grader! Let's celebrate with pancakes.

Got new sunglasses so we must model!

Heather's real quote: These look really good on me. I look like a movie star or something.

Hit Another Nature Park in the Rain - Eleanor Lawrence Park.

Wasn't as impressive as our new to-go spot Huntley Meadows, but we did find a mother deer and her baby hiding in the grass close by.

Another Hike this Weekend -

We found a snapping turtle laying eggs in the woods. The kids were fascinated.

Sunday was the cardboard boat races - watch out for us next year!

It wasn't too hot and we went to spy on the competition. The kids and I are entering next year!

Saturday was another hike with a personal request for Trevor to not fall on any snakes.

Muskrat. They were everywhere!

Snapping turtle burying in the mud after laying its eggs in the forest.

Eastern red slider turtle taking a swim.

Trevor did not fall on this one.

We hit Huntley Meadows. The kids saw just about all one could see - it was pretty awesome. They found a ribbon snake in a tree, saw muskrats right by the boardwalk, watched a turtle walk through the woods and bury itself in some mud, found egrets, snapping turtles, more snakes, frogs, toads, etc. We got behind a tour group. Once they figured out how quiet and good my kids are they begged them to stay with the group because they really can find just about everything with their eagle eyes! They were very impressed as Heather explained to the tour group what each thing they found was. Quite comical.

Friday Night we went to the Carnival.

Trevor tried out the fun slide this year - NOT a fan.

Trevor's special day continued with festivities. He continually shouted "Sissy, its MY day!". We hit the carnival to find the fishing game man - Mike the carnie. Yes, we know his name and yes he remembers us from the last three years. Trevor was excited to see that Mike changed the product this year a bit since he basically has every prize that Mike the carnie offers. A few other carnies remembered us as well. It must be because my kids are such fashionable dressers - NOT. Heather learned that she's finally gotten big enough that she was disqualified from a bunch of the rides. They are growing up so quickly!

Trevor fell face first on a water snake.

To celebrate his graduation, we let Trevor pick what he wanted to do for lunch. He decided we should picnic and watch frogs and fish. So off we went. They spent about 3 minutes "picnicing" before they wanted to get on the playground and "be one with nature" (Trevor's words not mine). Off to the playground they went. Then we walked around the pond so see what we could find. Eric found a giant water snake sunning itself. He said Trevor look at this giant snake. Trevor says where and bends down to look. Trevor then proceeds to plummet face first onto the giant water snake. Trevor is screaming hysterically. Heather is screaming hysterically. Mama is screaming hysterically. I jump down, snag Trevor by his shorts and haul him back onto the boardwalk. Luckily he fell on the tail. The snake was probably screaming hysterically too but we couldn't hear it amongst our screeches. We decided to cut the picnic short after that. The park police were driving by - probably wondering what the heck was going on. Trevor still has a giant bruise on his head.

Trevor Graduates Preschool!

We are so proud of Trevor. He looked so cute with his little cap! We are going to have him repeat next year like we did Heather.
