Election Day - Kiddos worked the polls!

After explaining the difference (without trying to force Heather to pick a side) of what a Republican believes and what a Democrat believes the kiddos kindly helped me out.  We were the only helpers at our polling place but everyone was very kind when they walked up and tried to give them paper.  The reward for their patience was fishing!  Unfortunately Trevor didn't catch anything but we got many bites and he was happy.

Halloween Was a Hit!

It was the biggest gathering of children we've ever had.  Eight total and it was total pandemonium.  They were running everywhere!  Heather was a fox, Trevor was a Skylander.  They got tons of candy.

Pumpkin Carving!

The kids had a great time carving.  Heather made Dracula and it turned out really good!  Trevor did a zombie gunshot victim and I did a grim reaper.  Unfortunately it was so warm out that the pumpkins developed a major case of mold and we had to chuck them prior to Halloween.  They were only carved four days prior!

First Official Duty of the new Student Council President!

Heather is the President.  She is quite proud to announce that no one else wanted the job.  Today was "Mismatch Day".  Mismatch Day is when one wears anything that doesn't match.  She was very proud of her efforts.  Trevor did not want to participate as much until he decided he would color his hair and wear it like a mohawk.

Came Upon this Adorable Moment and Had to Snap a Pic!

Went on a Field Trip with Heather to the Edge.

The entire sixth grade headed off the a place called the Edge.  I learned a few things - One, sixth graders have major attitudes.  Two, iphones are soul suckers and should never be put in an elementary school age childs hands.  There were so many selfies I couldn't keep track.  Three, don't go on an all day field trip when you have broken your toe.  Heather appreciated my efforts so it was worth it in the end.  Her favorite part was being in the woods when a herd of deer came through and the rope tower.  She was the first to climb in her group and went straight to the top - FEARLESS!

We Went "Mining" and mini golfing in Dulles.

It was a beautiful October day with mild weather and we took advantage of it and headed out to Dulles.  There is a mining area and putt-putt course.  They had a spectacular time and found a turtle as well.
