I decided the kids needed to see real caverns as they still talk about the Natural Bridge Caverns and how terrible they are....so off to Luray we went! Eric joined us as well as our friends and their children. It was a lovely hour and a half trip full of cows, horses, goats. The kids enjoyed the hills and country music was sung loudly in the back. We arrived with perfect timing, got our tour tickets and hit the caverns. Afterwards I bought tickets for the adventure rope course (which was a pleasant surprise) for Heather and Trevor. Trevor backed out so I reluctantly headed to the top with Heather - I am petrified of high places. I powered through trying to show my kiddos that there was nothing to be afraid of. After that we hit the garden maze. They had a great time running through the hedges and getting their cards stamped. We made it home by 3:30 p.m. - not a bad day!
The girls before the climb to the top.
Which way do we go now?
This is wonder lake - the reflection was so cool to see! Trevor kept asking if there were fish in the lake. The guide assured him there was not. He insisted there were at least crayfish.
Trevor picked a archaeological kit out of the gift shop and searched for "diamonds and gold". He took a good hour to work his way through the rock - THE MESSIEST TOY EVER. Our deck is still covered in debris. He did look pretty cute though with his goggles and hammer.
