Geocaching at Huntley Meadows

We went hiking and threw in some geocaching on the side.  We managed to find one but in our attempts to find a second one, Heather jumped over a tree and skinned her knee.  We practically carried her out of the woods as she was now one-legged and Mama was with no band-aids - GASP.  The next day they were insistent we go back now that Heather had recovered from her injury and was band-aided up and off the crutches (ok there were no crutches but you get the gist of the drama that ensued).  So back we went.  There has been tons of rain so the hike was quite a soggy event.  We managed to find multiple frogs, toads, a few box turtles and a giant termite mound with woodpecker colony who were eating them in a frenzy, but no geocache which turned out to be hidden in some swamp.  The kids were still pleased with their finds.

We came across this muskrat.

The geocache that we found (pre injury).

Hello turtle!
