Another visit to the Reston Zoo
Guess who dressed themselves today?!
Saturday was a visit to the Reston Zoo - its been such a hot summer that we really have not utilized our season passes. Heather was over the moon that she got to ride the new horse Trooper for the first time. Trevor was pleased he got to feed the new koi. There was a new baby alpaca and newborn piglets. It amazes me that the kids still just love going there!
Friday Night we went to the Arlington County Fair
There was a rainforest trailer with animals that you could see up close, an inflatable moonbounce and an animal show with "Bixby and Friends". We didn't have to purchase any tickets for any of the rides because this $5 moonbounce pass was more than adequate.....so long as we visited "Mike the Carni" and played his fish game (photos of the major winnings included above). The National Aquarium also had a booth where you could take sticky cardboard seacreatures and put them in the sand and make art. The kids had a great time! We watched pig racing as well.

Sunday was a visit to the 4-H fair & carnival at Frying Pan Park
"my he certainly is taking this very seriously. He seems extremely into it and almost angry!"
Trevor just wanted to win win win.
Heather loved the fun house - she went on it over six times before I had to tell her enough already!
They both got to milk a pretend cow.
They both got to milk a pretend cow.
And they practiced their lassoing skills.
There is a giant "sand box" full of corn kernals.
Heather LOVED the horses!
They got to see a newborn calf.
Watching the miniture ponies racing buggies.
The kids had a great time visiting the farm exhibits, animals and fair. The fish game "carny" recognized us from the other times and cut us a deal/gave us a discount! He also let us pick a larger prize. Trevor was of course in heaven and constantly begged to play the fish game for the entire visit. We told Mr. Carny we'd see him in two weeks at the Arlington County Fair - the game consists of plastic sharks going in a circle in a pool and the kids fishing them out.
