This weekend reached well over 100 degrees. Grandma Judy and Grandpa Don came for a visit on Saturday, and on Sunday, we found a waterpark which is 10 minutes away from us that we never knew existed. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the surprise and we plan to do another couple of visits before the end of summer. Next weekend is a visit to Kent Island and the Hollands on Saturday and a possible campfire Sunday night at the Hidden Pond nature center. We may try and hit Ocean City during the last week of August if I can swing it. Due to the extra hecticness of work, we've been asked to hold off on any vacation plans.

Trevor Update
Trevor's hearing was today - the county has decided that he qualifies for speech therapy and will start working with him in September during preschool. We are very pleased by this news. We will have yet another meeting with the team within the next 30 days where they will tell us what his therapy will entail.

Beating the Weekend Heat
Sorry for no photos this week - it was just too hot! Eric and kids have been dogsitting Amber and enjoying walking by the pond by Grandpa and Grandma's. Every other day I am told a tale of frogs, fishes and turtles. We went to a friends birthday party bbq this Saturday - we heard there were going to be 17 kids so we brought the slide over. It was a big hit and there was no drama and all the kids were contained. I am definitely getting full use of it this summer! Kids spent the entire day Sunday in it as well. We also spent time indoors and the kids got to put together puzzles - it amazes me how smart they are! Heather can do a 100-piece puzzle on her own and Trevor can do a 24-piece puzzle. At almost 3.8 years, I think that's pretty good!

Trevor was Tested Today
Today was Trevor's hearing and speech assessment to see if he qualifies for the county to provide speech therapy. His comprehension skills are past age 5! However, he will likely start speech therapy when he enters preschool in September. We will get the official word during late afternoon of 7/23. He did great and was very patient in order to get his new fish book that we bought as a bribe! Tonight he gets Cold Stone ice cream with gummy bears as a special treat. He failed part of the hearing test in one ear for high sounds, but they think its due to faulty equipment. He sees a specialist Monday morning to be 100% sure.

Fireworks on the 4th of July
Kids sitting on the blanket getting ready with their glow bracelets.
Snakes were a big hit. I remember we used to love them when we were kids too!
This was the first year we purchased fireworks for the kids. I wasn't keen on the sparklers, but Eric was in charge of the selections. The kids enjoyed the fountains and Eric caused no injuries or fires so it worked out well. We also spent the majority of the weekend back in the water slide. Sounds like we will have to use it all week to beat the heat.

We got to see one of the peacocks put on a show - the kids were entralled.
Trevor feeding a pig a bottle - he opted to skip the pony ride.

Kids hadn't been to the zoo in ages due to the heat so we decided to pay a visit. Lots of new animals including a new horse. They were extremely excited. They wanted to make me go on the wagon ride but at the end it was so packed and so hot we started to melt. I was able to leave tear free with a reminder that we can always come back. We ended our day with a visit to the Frozen Dairy Bar - a Falls Church icon.
